Salon results, without the salon
One pass. Glass-smooth hair that holds all day.
The VS1 heats in seconds and glides in a single stroke - so you stop re-straightening the same section and stop frying your ends doing it.

Why it works
Built to do in one pass what your old iron does in five
Every pass with an underpowered iron is another round of heat on the same strand. The VS1 is engineered so once is enough.
Heats in seconds
Ready before you've finished parting your hair. No standing around waiting for a light to change colour.
Adjustable heat
Dial it down for fine or coloured hair, up for thick and coarse. One iron, every hair type in the house.
Frizz stays down
Even plate contact seals the cuticle in one stroke, so the finish holds through humidity instead of fluffing by lunch.
Straight, waves, curls
Rounded edges mean the same tool does a poker-straight finish or a soft beachy bend. No second appliance.
Sound familiar?
The problem was never your hair
It was a $40 iron with uneven plates, doing four passes where one should do.
Your current straightener
- Four or five passes over the same section before it looks right
- Plates that snag, drag and pull at your ends
- Smooth at 8am, frizzy again by 11
- A second appliance for waves, taking up the same drawer
The Ethan Thomas VS1
- One pass on most hair types — measurably less total heat
- Plates glide through without catching, even on fine hair
- Cuticle sealed in a single stroke, so it holds all day
- Straight, waves and curls from the same tool

How to get the look
Start dry
Hair should be fully dry and brushed through. Damp hair steams and undoes the finish before you've left the room.
Section it
Clip the top half up and work in sections about two fingers wide. Thinner sections, fewer passes.
One smooth pass
Clamp near the root and draw all the way down in one steady motion. Twist your wrist at the end if you want a bend instead of a blunt finish.
Real hair, no retouching
Frizz to finish, in one sitting
Shot on the same day, same lighting, no filter.

Questions we get asked
Most heat damage comes from repeated passes, not from one hot pass. Even plate contact means most hair types need a single stroke, which means less total heat than a weaker iron you have to go over four times. Fine or coloured hair should use a lower setting on the dial.
Yes. Thicker and coarser textures should use a higher setting and work in narrower sections — around two fingers wide. Always use a heat protectant first.
Plate quality and heat stability. A cheap iron loses temperature the moment it touches hair, which is why you go over the same section again and again. That repetition is what does the damage — and why cheap irons need replacing every eight months.
